Artist Talk: Oro Dulce

March 9, 2014 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Oro Dulce is an immersion into an agrarian artisanal production process, aiming to generate a discussion about new forms of urban-rural habitability in a territory of growing interconnectivity and hybridization. Artist Francisca Benitez joined her family for their annual quince making, documented in the 90-minute film presented at Cuchifritos Gallery.

Reedited for this exhibition, the video brings awareness to the process of making behind the food we eat, which is so often anonymous. Cuchifritos Gallery’s location within the Essex Street Market serves as an ideal venue for an intimate glimpse into a process rooted in tradition, bringing together an entire community.

Join us for an artist talk on Sunday, March 9th from 4-5pm in conjunction with the Lower East Side Gallery Walk for Armory Arts Week.

Film on view daily March 5 – March 9 from 12-6pm
Artist Reception: Wednesday, March 5th from 5-7pm
Location: 120 Essex Street (inside Essex Street Market)

For more information visit the Oro Dulce exhibition page.
